Time to Celebrate!

Finally, after almost five months of chemotherapy, I had my last one on Monday! Yipee!  It was such a good feeling, knowing that, that was my last treatment.  Even though I'm not feeling great right now, I feel I can deal with anything, knowing I won't have to go through this in another three weeks!  I start my 20 radiation treatments the first week of September and then I'm done!!  It will be so good to get back my life and work at the store again!

I haven't posted any of my projects from the August kit from "The Little Black Dress Kit Club".  This month's kit is amazing!  There is so much product in it, I just couldn't stop creating!  I did manage to do alot!

First, I had some product left over and I decided to do this layout on Monday, to document this moment!

I used 7Gypsies striped paper, October Afternoon Thrift shop paper, vintage account paper(for the circles), a vocabulary card, green/white tissue paper, buttons, Jenni Bowlin tab stickers, Melody Ross epoxy sticker, dictionary page, and the netted looking stuff behind my photo is the sticker part in between the October afternoon letter stickers.

Next, I did this layout of my son and his girlfriend in the lobby of their apartment building.  I loved using   the sequin strip (the part left over after sequins are cut out) as a mask with green ink and Creative Imagination's new, "Radiant Rain" in teal zircon mist and cinnamon dauber paint(not included in kit).  This shimmer paint comes in either a dauber or mister, the colors are gorgeous!    The paper is October Afternoon's Thrift Shop(One of a Kind), corrugated cardboard (painted) with some of the vintage book paper tucked in at the bottom, vintage map paper, green tissue paper(gathered), game piece, and notebook piece.  Letters are October Afternoon Mini Market, epoxy stickers are Melody Ross and there's a Jenni Bowlin label in there.  I also pleated the printed paper at the end and used the brown polka dot ribbon like thread and sewed two "x's".

I even did a two-page layout!  I don't do too many of those, but I have a lot of photos from when Pat and I took our Australian cousin, Mel, Pat's daughter and friend to Fort Edmonton Park.  We had a lot of fun that day, so many photo opportunities with all the antique stuff!  We even decided to have a photo taken of us at the Antique Photo Parlor so Mel could take one home with her.  It was funny, the girls wanted to dress up in all the pretty clothes, but Pat and I wanted guns and Annie Oakely costumes!

Loved this paper from Kaiser, "Gypsy Sisters", it was my favorite from this kit!  After determining where I wanted my circle on the left side, I cut out a smaller circle from the background paper where it was going to be covered, to use on the right layout.  Because I wasn't using the same background paper for both sides, (the right side was the Jenni Bowlin Bookprint paper) I wanted some sort of flow between the two layouts.  I adhered the sequin strip (the same strip I used first for masking on my other layout) on both papers, cutting at the edge. I layered  patterned paper under and over, sewed down my large circle, then a ring I had cut out outside the circle from the same paper, only flipped to the other side and trimmed with decorative scissors.  Made flowers with my Slice (stapled together with my Tim Holtz tiny attacher), adhered ribbon, buttons, epoxy stickers, a wax seal made with the 7Gypsies Seal kit (I was excited when I saw this in the kit, always wanted to try it!), cream Prima Canvas letters, Kaiser rub-ons, number tile and penny roll paper.

Now, for my altered project, a small watering can I had bought a long time ago.

I covered the can with the striped 7Gypsy paper and the vintage music sheet paper.  The "Life is Nice" is one of the Melody Ross WhatNots cards.  The flowers were made with my Slice (I sure seem to make a lot of flowers with this machine, don't I?)layered, then glimmer misted lightly.  The plastic leaves were in the kit, but I covered them with clear micro beads, then lightly colored them with alcohol ink, which gives them a vintage look.  I added the wooden number circle to the middle of one of the flowers, some epoxy stickers and lace and ribbons.
Wait there's still more!  Can you believe how much I did from this kit?!
Another layout, of my grandmother, photo of her when she was a young woman in Scotland, using the Sassafras Lass Bouquet of Bliss paper and Basic Grey purple.  I can't go without doing a layout handcutting out all the flowers!  The title was cut out with my Slice, then painted lightly with green paint, and then I covered it with Diamond Glaze, micro beads, and alcohol inked.  I was having fun with the micro beads, so I decided to use them again with the Glitz stamp.  I stamped twice on the vintage book page with brown ink.  I then cut out the circle and the bottom part of one image.  Using Diamond Glaze, I covered both images excluding the middle of the circle, and covered with Micro Beads.  Again, aging them with alcohol ink after they were dry.  I then glued one on top of the other to give it dimension.  I journaled on the vintage receipt, added a 7Gypsies wax seal, lace, and a butterfly cut out with my Slice (microbeads added too).

And finally, two cards!

I used the GCD Studios Homespun paper, and the Basic Grey patterned paper and vintage map paper for the flowers(cut out with my slice).  Also used were some epoxy stickers, ribbon, buttons, Melody Ross card, miniature playing card and the stick pin.

This card was made with the 7Gypsies Merlimont paper, Butterfly with the Kaiser Gypsy paper, ribbon, pearl ribbon, and a 7Gypsies wax seal.

Well, that's a lot of projects, isn't it?  The only thing I added was some cardstock, and a few brads.  For those of you who have purchased this kit, hopefully I've given you some inspiration for using all the goodies in it!  Make sure you check out The Little Black Dress blog for other ideas from our fabulous  design team and guest artist, Heidi Swapp!

Take care and have a great weekend!

I've been...

a bad blogger!  I keep saying to myself, I should post more but I never seem to.   I haven't been doing a lot of scrapping lately, the weather has been beautiful here so I've been trying to enjoy it while I can.   This last round of chemo wasn't as hard on me as the last one, which was great.  Just my fingertips are still a bit painful and numb, which is quite annoying when you are a crafter, gardener, and are on the computer.  But it will soon be over, one more treatment next week(hopefully) and then I'm done with chemo!!!!  YEAH!  Just my radiation treatments in September and that's it.  It will be so nice to go back to work at the store, I miss it a lot, the girls working there and all the customers.  Speaking of the store, here is my layout for this month's challenge kit:

We had to use the word "Discover" and this great line of paper by Teresa Collins.

There is a printed transparency in the kit which I cut out flowers with my Tim Holtz flower die.
I used a very small amount of black alcohol ink on the edges, layered them, and put a button in the middle with the Tim Holtz memo pin.  I cut out a tiny circle of paper, the size of the pin circle, glued it to the back and filled the center with Diamond Glaze.  I think I saw this on the gypsy girl blog - Lucky Day.  When  my husband and I were in Australia last year, we flew over to Tasmania for three days.
I always wanted to go there, and it being my grandmother's birthplace, we decided to make a quick trip.
I would definitely go back again, but for a longer time, there is so much we didn't see and it's a beautiful place!  We checked out the library archives for information about my family, but they were closing soon, so we couldn't find a lot out, but we did manage to find the address of their store.  My great-grandparents and great-uncles came from England where their family had a basketmaking factory and decided to start a business in Hobart, Tasmania.  The old address for the store was on the way to our hotel so we walked over.  It was now separated into a couple of stores, one of which was a watch repair shop.  When we went in, we told the owner we were visiting from Canada and wanted to see where the old Bridges store used to be and much to our surprise, he said,"oh, they moved awhile ago across the street".  The company was still around, but mostly a sporting goods store and had been sold.  I guess it had still been in the family(a descendent of one of the uncles) a short while ago.  I wish we had more time to research more about the family, maybe next time!
Make sure you check out what the rest of the girls did with the kit, their layouts are fantastic!
The Urban Scrapbook

I will be back later, with a couple of projects for The Little Black Dress Kit Club August kit.  I haven't quite finished all of them, I'm slow this month!

Have a great day!
